Films
How many films have you watched in your life? 100? 200? 1000? who knows,
we watch films for all sorts of reasons, i know i watch films to either cheer me up, scare me or give me a sense of the life around me, other people's experiances.
i watched eternal sunshine for the spotless mind at 4 o clock this morning. it's cinematography was probably the best ive ever seen, the director (whose name i cant remember, some french person) had amazing ideas, the scene where Jim Carey's character Joel drags Kate Winslet's character Clementine through to the doctor who did the erasing of memories has stuck with me, the way Carey and Winslet are following the camaraman with a light shining on them, and then Clementine's face disappear was really striking.
After i finished watching this film, i realised, this will probably stick with me for days, months, years, like a few other scenes from films, like the opening scene of Juno, or the scene in Beauty and the Beast where they dance. these have stuck with me and have had an impression on me as a person.
It makes me wonder...
if i watched nothing but Japanese horror films, how would that affect me? i know i would have a numbing to all modern american horror films, but i mean would my sensitivity be affected? would i become more or less sensitive to certain real life experiances like death, or love?
So how much of our personality, how much of who are we are can we credit to the way we interpret films? or are who we are as people/or our personality the reason we interpret films the way we do.
Likewise with books, and television.
I Hope Youre Okay.
