StopWishingForTheSunshine, StartLivingInTheRain

i dislike those people who go off on a tangent whenever you speak to them, one minute theyre a-okay and the next they're crying for attention.

there are too many people like that in this world, it's like emotional whiplash trying to keep up sometimes.

Sometimes i think life would be easier to be a hermit, but not a hermit as in never see anyone, but like living in a totally unaccustomed area where you dont necessarily fully understand the culture or the language. where you dont know anybody and every day you learn new and meaningful things.

The idea of language and religion fascinate me. They've both figured prominently in my life, being half northern irish my grandparents used to be strong believers in religion from what i know. they went to church much like stereotypical irish people do. but i guess the weird thing is i typically associate northern ireland with protestants but my grandparents are catholic and thats what i grew up as...? mindfuck.

Anyway, what interests me the most about religion is the way it's celebrated the way people can devote themselves absolutely to something that has no genuine proof of existance. ceremonial acts of worship also fascinate me.

Much of my life i've wanted to go to the complete opposite side of the world, where life as i know it would be (hopefully) as radically different as possible. Japan was where i always wanted to go. The infrastructure, values, etiquete even the way people look is different... admitedly its westernised to a sense, but the core values are still there and if you look hard enough you can find them everywhere.

i can probably safely say, ill never be fluent and japanese, even if i wanted to, but i think as long as i had a translating device/book that could get me around, i think i could die happy knowing ive been there and experienced that isolation within 80 million people half way across the world. :)
